An investment destination as important as Cancun and the Riviera Maya has strongly positioned itself in recent years. Hundreds of foreign investors and investors from other cities in Mexico have set their sights on this destination to grow their investments or simply to buy the house of their dreams, to vacation or retire in a paradisiacal destination, which is also quoted and profitable in dollars.
But is it advisable to invest indiscriminately in any part of Cancun or the Riviera Maya? No, to have a favorable investment experience, it is essential to know in detail the profile of each of the destinations, as well as understand the potential within each one.

There are certain characteristics that are immovable and must be taken into account before starting the search. Below we share from our experience the characteristics of the main destinations.
Cancun
Cancun is considered the main tourist city of Quintana Roo, the place where it all began. Its unparalleled beaches with turquoise sea and white sand are its main attraction. In Cancun you can find the most exclusive beachfront properties with a wide range of first-class amenities and with higher permitted densities than in other parts of the Riviera Maya, vertical construction is very common. Cancun has the largest infrastructure, services, first-class hospitals, marina and the second most important airport in Mexico.
Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos is a picturesque town, with the authentic appearance of a fishing village, surrounded by mangroves and natural attractions such as the Cenotes Route, zoos, botanical gardens, among others. You can also find an interesting variety of restaurants, offering everything from fresh seafood to steak and charming cafes and bars that really make us feel the essence of the Caribbean. Puerto Morelos is one of the destinations where it is possible to find properties within walking distance of the beach at attractive prices. Most of its properties have a traditional architectural appearance, although more and more developers are setting their sights on this little explored and exploited destination, compared to other destinations in the Riviera Maya. It has a very privileged location, being just a few minutes from the Cancun International Airport.
Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen, undoubtedly a phenomenon in the last decade. Playa del Carmen has become a global icon for its exponential growth and significant real estate development. Playa del Carmen offers a wide range of properties, with different architectural proposals and different operating styles, pre-sale and resale, two different worlds.
Reference points related to its price are the proximity to the beach and 5th avenue. A quality that investors in downtown Playa del Carmen find in common is that their properties are within walking distance of everything. There are also gated residential communities north or south of downtown Playa del Carmen that offer very attractive properties for vacation homes, investment or even homes for primary residence.

Puerto Aventuras
Puerto Aventuras, I would probably describe it as the Oasis of the Riviera Maya, more than an investment destination, I would think of Puerto Aventuras as an investment community. In Puerto Aventuras valuable elements come together, it is a gated community with controlled access located just 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen and one hour from the Cancun International Airport, it has its own golf course, marina, central park, school, restaurant and service area. In my opinion, the most stable area to invest, its architecture is characterized by being quite homogeneous, mostly in a traditional style, the new constructions are somewhat more contemporary and with architectural proposals of their own, always in harmony with the look of the community.
Akumal
Akumal is a destination with great personality, where they have managed to preserve the feeling of a small Caribbean town. Akumal has had an important presence among nature lovers for having an important variety of marine fauna, especially known as the home of sea turtles, it also has a coral reef, which has made it a very attractive place for divers and in the part of the Bay called Halfmoon bay is the Caleta de Yal-ku where you can snorkel with an important number of fish around.
Akumal is a charming town with beachfront restaurants and unique beach clubs with cabins in the heights from where you can enjoy a beer with a breathtaking view.
This is the charm that surely glimpsed the creator of Bahia Principe, an important development that brings together high-level hotels, luxury residences, golf course, spa, wellness center, beach club and endless amenities.
In Akumal you can find beachfront houses for over a million dollars, as well as mostly rustic-style condominiums at attractive prices even being located in front of the sea or a few steps from the sea. It is located approximately one hour and 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport.
Tulum
Tulum today is probably the most trendy destination in Mexico worldwide, the tourism that visits it is quite select and has been called an eco-chic destination. Tulum is a destination that has shown the world the benefits of the jungle, regardless of the fact that it has paradisiacal beaches, eco-sustainable hotels that even generate their own electricity in the coastal area and offer high-level services and unique experiences, it has signature restaurants, designer boutiques and art galleries, all of them in a very particular style of Tulum, so much so, that a trend and a style of its own has been marked, in fact among the local people has created the definition of its style as “tuluminati.
