New international airport in Tulum

When speaking of the Riviera Maya, one of the most significant sites in the area is Tulum, not only for its natural wonders but also for the historical and archaeological aspects it offers to learn more about the Mayan culture.

In this way, Tulum has positioned itself internationally as a must-visit destination in the Riviera Maya, both for tourists and investors. While there is already talk of the Tren Maya, another mega-project is present to facilitate and offer better infrastructure in the city, the new Tulum airport.

The new Tulum International Airport will be named Felipe Carrillo Puerto, with the capacity to receive and provide the best service to 4 million passengers annually. Additionally, it will have a military base and will be integrated into the existing highway system as well as the Tren Maya, for better passenger movement.

By having an International Airport in Tulum, the infrastructure offer will be improved, seeking to diversify the transport demand that visitors to the Riviera Maya require, with the purpose of complementing and offering an alternative to the already highly demanded Cancun International Airport, highlighting the fact that said airport, according to data provided by the Ministry of Tourism, ranks second nationally in terms of passenger arrivals, with more than 7 million visitors so far this half of the year, and with around 600 daily flights.

Likewise, this project will allow the tourist, economic and social growth of the region, connecting a greater number of Mayan archaeological zones, which will be complemented by a commercial and service corridor of 10.5 kilometers connected to the federal highway and the new Tulum International Airport, creating the opportunity to generate thousands of new jobs for local people.

Therefore, the new Tulum International Airport not only means better service to both national and foreign tourists, but also a better distribution of flights in the state of Quintana Roo, offering more fluidity in their transportation, which will be complemented by the Tren Maya. So don’t think about it anymore, Quintana Roo continues to work to offer those who visit us the best experience.
