Ruins of Ichkabal opens its doors to the public for the first time

The construction of the Mayan Train has been accompanied by various programs such as the Program for the Improvement of Archaeological Zones (Promeza), highlighting the opening to the public of the spectacular Ichkabal ruins located in the magical town of Bacalar, Quintana Roo.

The director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) commented that the state of Quintana Roo will be one of the states that will benefit the most from the Promeza program. In the same way, it was announced that within the Mayan city of Uxmal, Yucatan, a stele carved on both sides was recently found “It is a female deity, with big eyes, chins at the corners of the mouth and bare chest, has a pectoral with three rows of hemispherical pearls, bracelets with two rows of pearls and a reticulated skirt that covers up to the heels of the feet, holds a quetzal in the left hand. The theme of the big eyes can be linked to an identity with death”, declared the director of the INAH.

Similarly, the INAH director shared more details about the Mayan city of Ichkabal, the archaeological site that covered around 60 square meters, dating back more than 2,400 years, where its maximum splendor would have been in the middle of the first millennium and lasting until the fourteenth century. The so-called City of Snakes makes evident the use of hydraulic engineering linked to the construction of the Crocodile Customs.

The Mayan Train will bring many benefits to the Riviera Maya, attracting more and more tourists, where cities like Playa del Carmen and Tulum stand out as excellent options to invest, now being the ideal time to do so. Contact us and receive free professional advice.
